PFA -Paediatric First Aid Course is a 2 day course and covers the following subjects:

  • Neck//Back & Head Injuries

 EPFA - Emergency Paediatric First Aid is a

1 day course (6 hours) available to those NOT requiring OFSTED registration, parents/grandparents.  This is a Level 2 First Aid certificate ideal for basic Paediatric emergency training covers all essential skills for emergencies involving children. 

Emergency First Aid at work is a 1 day course and covers the following subjects
 

  • Roles & Responsibilities of the First Aider (including health & safety regulations)

  • Assessing an Emergency Situation & Prioritizing Action

  • Unresponsive breathing casualty/
    Unresponsive not breathing casualty

  • Defibrillator/AED

  • Choking adult

  • Seizures

  • Severe Bleeding

  • Shock and Internal Bleeding

  • Burns

  • Minor bleeds/injuries

  • Assessments practical & written

First Aid at Work (FAW) is a 3 day first aid course that covers the following subjects:

Re-qualification (RFAW) is a 2 day first aid course that covers the following subjects:

  • Roles & Responsibilities of the First Aider

  • Assessing an Emergency Situation & knowing how to Prioritize.

  • CPR / how to find and use an AED

  • Unresponsive Casualty (Breathing)

  • Choking

  • Seizures

  • Infection Prevention

  • Severe Bleeding

  • Shock (including internal bleeding)

  • Burns

  • Minor Injuries

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Fractures & Dislocations

  • Spinal Injuries

  • Minor bleeds

  • Extreme Temperatures

  • Heart-Related Conditions

  • Poisoning

  • Stroke

  • Asthma

  • Low blood sugar/Diabetes

  • Abdominal & Chest Injuries

  • Head Injuries

  • Sprains & Strains

  • Fainting & Panic Attacks

Who needs First Aid Training in the workplace?

Employers ResponsibilityEmployers are legally required to provide adequate and appropriate first aid equipment facilities and personnel based on their workplace risk assessment.  It is worked out on workplace size, number of employees and location.

HSE guidelines: 

Low risk: settings like offices, less that 25 people, at least 1 first aider at all times. 25-30 At least 1 EFAW more than 50 at least 1 FAW per 50.  High Risk: settings like construction, less than 5 at least 1 FAW, 5-50 at least 1 EFAW or FAW more than 50 at least 1 FAW per 50.

That means if the first aider is off sick or works from home or on holiday cover would be needed.

ALL FIRST AIDER'S MUST HAVE VALID CERTIFICATE FROM APPROVED TRAINING PROVIDER

PFA - Paediatric First Aid 2day course 12hrs OFSTED recognized and meets Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework in the UK EPFA - Emergency Paediatric First Aid 1 day course 6 hours suitable for those not requiring OFSTED registration not sufficient as a standalone qualification for childcare providers under the EYFS framework may be suitable for roles where a supporting knowledge of paediatric first aid is needed but full compliance with EYFS is not required.
